About

You'll wake up to the smell of pine needles and the sound of Steller's jays at Sunset Campground, one of two campgrounds inside Bryce Canyon National Park. The sites are carved into a forest of towering ponderosas, giving you shade during hot summer days and that perfect camping-in-the-woods feeling at night. Best part? You can walk to Sunset Point in about 10 minutes.

Campground Features

The campground sits at 8,000 feet elevation, which means cool nights even in July. Sites are generously sized (most RVs up to 30 feet fit fine), and each comes with a picnic table and fire ring. The paved shared-use path connects you to all the major viewpoints along the rim without having to drive. Grab your bike or just walk, it's an easy, flat cruise to sunrise views or the visitor center.

Facilities include:

  • Flush toilets

  • Cold water sinks in the restrooms

  • No showers on-site (but tokens available at the general store for timed showers down the road)

  • Group sites that accommodate up to 30 people

Why Stay Here

The campground fills up fast in summer (book on recreation.gov months ahead for July and August), but shoulder seasons offer more availability and fewer crowds.

The location really is the selling point. You're inside the park, close enough to catch sunrise at Bryce Point without setting an alarm for 4 a.m. After dark, the Milky Way stretches overhead—this is some of the darkest sky in the country.

Such a beautiful place. Clean, peaceful. Camp hosts were very pleasant and chatted with us about park. Has a public restroom that was clean and trash disposal as well as propane tank disposal. Free RV dump is across street and very well maintained. Free park shuttle is also at entrance to camp. Woke up one morning and 2 mule deer with their 3 babies were grazing and bedded down for a while. Fun to watch. Site has a panic table and fire ring. Only down side is it was super hard to park 25 foot trailer with full size truck. Not alot of wiggle room to back in to narrow sites. Wouldn't recommend for trailer much larger than that. Would come here again!
