Tropic, UT

About

Stone Canyon Inn sits on the west edge of Tropic, a small town 11 miles from the Bryce Canyon National Park entrance. The property is a step above the standard gateway motel: it offers a mix of standalone cabins, tree houses, bungalows, and a guest house, all oriented toward canyon and plateau views. A sauna, steam room, and on-site restaurant round out the amenities without overcrowding the experience.

Accommodations

The property's range makes it work for couples, families, and groups. Cabins sleep up to six with two bedrooms, full kitchens, and private hot tubs on the deck. Tree houses sit above the tree line with a king bed, a loft with twin mattresses, and a deck with gas fire pit — the views of Bryce Canyon from up there are genuinely good. Bungalows are king suites with a private porch for a simpler, quieter stay. A full guest house accommodates four, with a jetted tub and laundry in-unit.

On-Site Amenities

  • Sauna and steam room available for guests
  • On-site restaurant serving dinner (check current hours when booking)
  • Free Wi-Fi throughout the property
  • Private BBQ grilles on cabin decks

Location Notes

Tropic is quieter and less commercial than Bryce Canyon City, which appeals to visitors who want to be close to the park without the resort-area bustle. The park entrance is about a 15-minute drive, and the towns of Cannonville and Kodachrome Basin are within easy range for day trips. Book ahead for summer stays — the property is small and fills quickly in peak season.

Stayed in one of the bungalow cabins. Very romantic with a lot of nice touches. Views, grounds, and onsite restaurant were excellent.

Great spot for peace and quiet when visiting Bryce Canyon. The kitchen was well appointed and the hot tub was a very nice way to relax at the end of the day.

We are staying at one of the treehouses and this place has exceeded my expectations. The lady who checked us in was so friendly;I'm horrible with names. The bed is comfortable and the towels are large and soft. The treehouse feels private. The true magic here is the view. I'm on the balcony now looking at stunning landscape and the stargazing last night was phenomenal. It is extremely dark here so the stars can really show off. I highly recommend this place!
