Duck Creek Campground

A Forest Service campground in the pines where the camp host might just be the best thing on the itinerary.

About

Duck Creek Campground sits in the Dixie National Forest near the small village of Duck Creek, about an hour from Cedar City. It's a classic Forest Service setup: pines overhead, trails out the door, and flushing toilets (which, after a few nights in the backcountry, genuinely feels like a luxury). The scenery on the drive in is the kind that makes you slow down without thinking about it.

What actually sets this place apart is the camp host. Guests consistently rave about the hosts here, and for good reason. They'll point you toward OHV trails, waterfall hikes, and off-the-beaten-path spots you'd never find on your own. That kind of local knowledge is worth more than any trail app.

Practically speaking, the campground handles larger rigs well. A 30-foot travel trailer fits without drama, and access from the main highway is straightforward. The village of Duck Creek is about five minutes away for any supplies you forgot, and Cedar Breaks National Monument is under 30 minutes down the road.

This is a solid base for exploring the high country of southern Utah. It's also a reasonable detour if you're routing between Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion, or building out a longer Utah national parks road trip. The elevation keeps things cool even in summer, which is reason enough to consider it when the desert heat is at its peak.

An amazing and beautiful area to go camping with the family or friends. Enjoy your time by taking a walk around the water, fishing, or sitting around the campfire making a s'more.
