Cowboy Country Inn

Modest seasonal motel offering homey, Western-themed rooms, some with kitchens or bunk beds.

Escalante, UT

About

Cowboy Country Inn sits in the heart of Escalante, Utah, about a mile from the Escalante Interagency Visitor Center and the western gateway to Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. It's a practical, Western-themed base for travelers driving Scenic Byway 12 or staging multi-day hikes into the canyons. Bryce Canyon National Park is roughly 45 minutes west via US-89.

Rooms and Amenities

All rooms are air-conditioned and heated, with private entrances, microwave, small refrigerator, and coffee maker. Memory foam mattresses and Western-style decor set the tone. Several room types include bunk beds — useful for families — and some units have kitchenettes for self-catering. Free Wi-Fi and free parking are standard. The inn is pet-friendly, and guests have noted a resident cat.

Location and Access

The property is within walking distance of Escalante's main street restaurants and shops, and five minutes by car from Escalante Petrified Forest State Park. The Hole-in-the-Rock Heritage Center is also close. For canyon hikers, Calf Creek Recreation Area is about 15 miles east on Byway 12. Stock up on supplies in town before heading out — Escalante is the last real services hub before Boulder.

Who It Suits

Budget-conscious travelers who want a clean, characterful room over a chain hotel. Solo hikers, couples, and families needing extra beds all find options here. Book ahead in summer — Escalante fills up fast during peak season.

Really kind staff and super clean rooms. It's close enough to everything in town to walk there. I would definitely stay here again.

We came thru on a motorcycle trip and stopped here for one night. We were greeted as soon as we pulled up and made us feel at home. Room was uniquely decorated and super clean! They had great outdoor furniture so we sat outside and enjoyed the great weather. Would highly recommend this place! Nice to get away from the large chain hotels and enjoy local hospitality

This motel is wonderful for a one-night stay except for the beds. The beds are nothing but fluff and have zero support Seriously sleeping on a LoveSac would have been more comfortable. I had to crawl up from the middle of the mattress to get out of the bed.
