Clear Sky Resorts - Bryce Canyon - Unique Stargazing Domes

Sleep inside the stars, 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon

Cannonville, UT

About

Clear Sky Resorts occupies 80 private acres on Scenic Byway 12 in Cannonville, about 15 minutes from Bryce Canyon National Park. The concept is purpose-built astrotourism: geodesic Sky Domes with floor-to-ceiling panoramic glass let you watch the stars from inside your bed, no telescope required. This corner of Grand Staircase-Escalante country has some of the lowest light pollution in the continental US, which makes the premise genuinely work.

The Domes

The resort has 62 dome accommodations across several dome types. Each unit includes air conditioning, a private bathroom, a terrace or patio, mountain views, and free Wi-Fi. The structural glass walls and ceiling are the defining feature — the dome format eliminates the need to step outside at 2 AM to see a sky worth seeing. Specific dome categories and pricing vary by season; check the resort website for current availability.

Dining and Activities

Sky Nova restaurant is one of the resort's anchor features — a large glass-walled dining room with 28-foot panoramic views of the surrounding canyon landscape. Beyond stargazing, the property offers guided stargazing tours, yoga sessions, live music events, frisbee golf, and communal s'mores around the fire pit each evening.

Planning Notes

Cannonville is also the entry point for Kodachrome Basin State Park, roughly 5 miles south, and the Cottonwood Canyon Road into Grand Staircase-Escalante. Bryce Canyon's entrance is about a 20-minute drive. Book well in advance — dome inventory is limited and this property tends to sell out on summer weekends.

Clear sky Bryce Canyon is such a unique place to stay, and the stargazing domes are absolutely beautiful. The dome design is thoughtfully done, creating a cozy and relaxing experience unlike a typical hotel room. Instead of spending the evening watching TV, we enjoyed slowing down with a good book, making s'mores, roasting marshmallows by the fire, and taking in the incredible night sky. The views are breathtaking both during the day and at night. A special thank you to Levi at the front desk. He was welcoming, friendly, and genuinely made our stay more enjoyable. His positive attitude set the tone for a wonderful visit and reflected the kind of hospitality you hope to find while traveling. The only disappointment was our dining experience. Our waiter, Arturo, seemed inattentive and forgot our drinks. Even though we were dining in, my San Pellegrino was served in paper cups, which felt out of place. When I asked for lemon, I was given a very dry, old piece that should not have been served. I also felt our interactions were noticeably less friendly than those he had with other guests, which left us feeling uncomfortable. Thankfully, one unpleasant dining experience didn't overshadow an otherwise memorable stay. The stunning scenery and unique accommodations make this a place we'd gladly return to. - weak wifi - pre-made food: not worth it- especially pasta.. they seem to forgot to add salt.

Great overall experience - easy check-in, you can text staff for questions and get a quick response. Comfortable beds, great AC, good "privacy" for the domes in a location like this. Free s'mores, fun activities for the kids for just hanging out, great staff. No complaints - great experience!!

Stayed here for one night during our honeymoon. The dome was perfect. The shower had 6 jets and 2 shower heads. There were a lot of kids running around during dinner which was not expected. We did a horse back riding session and our guide was great, giving us tons of history about the land and plants. For the price, it’s a splurge. But it was fun to say we did it.

Upon arrival they told us they gave us a “free upgrade”. We thought that meant a dome on a deck with a fire pit. Turns out they were just overbooked and put us in a handicap-accesible dome. That was disappointing. First things we saw when we pulled up were the sign saying it wasn’t legal for us to park there and the maintenance entrance, which we didn’t realize they put on the domes. It’s a little disconcerting knowing that employees can enter the back of the dome at any time while you’re in it. 🫤 Second thing we noticed was the emergency exit for this handicap room being a window at the top of the dome. Not really accesible, even for a non-handicapped individual. (See photo.) We went back to the front desk to verify that they meant to put us there and they did and weren’t willing to change anything. So I dealt with difficulty getting off of all the low furniture 30 weeks pregnant. They offer a lot more domes than their online advertising really shows and they’re close together. I was concerned about privacy. Lower curtains had to be closed in order to not see the surrounding domes, which cut off a large portion of the view. Night sky was beautiful. It was cloudy at first but cleared up thankfully. We saw many shooting stars. The mattress was SO COMFY! I want one at home. 😆 It was really low to the ground and a little difficult for a third trimester pregnant person to get out of. It was only about 1 foot off the ground which I thought was because of the handicap room, but pictures of the other domes look low too. Because of the dome architecture, the room was cold at night and heated up fast when the sun hit the glass in the morning. We opted to not use the heater at night because it smelled and the AC was frustrating to figure out in the morning. It was sweaty hot for awhile in the morning while it cooled the room back down. When we first arrived the two ac units were set to 61*. It was so cold! Customer service the next day was much better. I didn’t catch her name unfortunately, but she was impressively kind to us and the young couple in front of us. She should get a raise! Helped turn my opinion of this place around. Overall had a decent getaway. Their misleading and not really thoughtful customer service at the beginning was irritating and almost ruined the trip but the night sky and better employee the next morning really helped make the experience better.

Fantastic stay with family near Bryce Canyon. Beautiful and clean rooms. Incredible views. Friendly staff. Lots of onsite activities in addition to close proximity to the park.
