Pared-down rooms & cabins in a motel offering free Wi-Fi & continental breakfast, plus a fire pit.
Bryce Pioneer Village occupies 13 acres in Tropic, roughly 10 minutes from the Bryce Canyon National Park entrance. The property mixes standard motel rooms with historic Western cabins — the cabins are originals, built inside the park from 1925 to 1927 by the Union Pacific Railroad and designed by Gilbert Stanley Underwood (the same architect behind Yosemite's Ahwahnee Hotel). They were relocated to this site in the mid-1980s, which gives the property a genuine piece of Bryce Canyon history that you won't find at a generic roadside motel.
Room types span single-queen motel rooms, double full-size and double-queen motel rooms, and three-queen cabins that work well for families or groups. The continental breakfast is included. The on-site Showdowns Restaurant serves meals and hosts live country-western music on select evenings. An outdoor pool rounds out the main amenities.
The property has enough space for soccer, volleyball, chess and card tables under gazebos, and a nightly campfire with marshmallows — a low-key way to wind down after a park day. An RV park with campsites is also on the grounds.
Tropic sits on the east side of Bryce Canyon along UT-12. The drive to Bryce Canyon's entrance is straightforward, and the town has a handful of other restaurants and shops within walking distance of the property.
