West Fork Trail
A quiet forest trail out of Blue Spruce Campground

About
West Fork Trail (#34026) is a 3.7-mile trail in the Escalante Ranger District of Dixie National Forest, reached from Blue Spruce Campground north of Escalante via Hells Backbone Road. It's a quieter option than the park's rim trails, running through the forest's mixed conifer and meadow country, and can be combined with the Jubilee Trail and the Great Western Trail for a longer day out.
Good to know
- Access is via Forest Road 153 to Hells Backbone Road, then FR 145 to the Blue Spruce Campground trailhead — a backcountry drive, not a paved approach
- Managed by the U.S. Forest Service, so expect more permissive rules than inside the national park (dogs generally welcome, dispersed camping common nearby)
- Best combined with connecting trails if you want more than a short out-and-back
