Upper Inspiration Point
The top tier of Bryce's three-point overlook climb
(0)
About
Upper Inspiration Point is the highest of three overlooks — Lower, Mid, and Upper — reached by a short, steep spur off the Rim Trail south of Sunset Point in Bryce Canyon National Park. The out-and-back to all three points covers about 0.6 miles round trip and takes most hikers under 20 minutes, but the climb back up is a real workout at 8,000-plus feet.
Good to know
- From Sunset Point, follow the Rim Trail south about a mile to reach the Inspiration Point spur
- Along with Bryce Point, this is one of the park's best sunset spots, with some visitors ranking the view here above Bryce Point itself
- The trail gets icy and is sometimes closed in winter — check conditions and use traction devices if snow is on the ground
- Dogs are not permitted on this trail, per NPS rules for interior park trails
