Day Hike
Tropic Trailhead
The below-rim trailhead starting from town

About
The Tropic Trailhead is the starting point for Tropic Trail, reached from the town of Tropic rather than from inside Bryce Canyon National Park itself. From town, head west on Bryce Way/W 100 N for about 3.2 miles until the road dead-ends at a cattle gate with stairs over it and a signed trailhead — parking is free along the dirt road.
What makes this access point different
- It's the only Bryce Canyon trail access that starts below the rim in town rather than at a park viewpoint
- From here, the trail climbs about 1.7 miles into the park, meeting the Peekaboo Loop, Navajo Loop, and Queen's Garden Trail
- A useful option for anyone staying in Tropic who wants to walk into the amphitheater rather than drive to a rim trailhead first
There's no shuttle stop or paved lot here — just a dirt pull-off at the edge of town, so plan for a self-contained hike.
