The Rim Trail

The whole amphitheater, seen from the top down

Bryce Canyon National Park, UT

About

The Rim Trail runs 5.5 miles along the edge of the Bryce Amphitheater, from Bryce Point in the south to Fairyland Point in the north, passing Inspiration Point, Sunset Point, and Sunrise Point along the way. Unlike the trails that drop into the amphitheater itself, this one stays up top - you get the full sweep of the hoodoo field below without any of the elevation loss and gain.

Good to know

  • 5.5 miles end to end with a typical time of 3-4 hours if walking the whole thing
  • Difficulty varies by section - the Sunset-to-Sunrise stretch is paved and easy, while other segments are dirt and less traveled
  • The Bryce Point to Inspiration Point section is regularly closed in winter
  • Shuttle stops at Bryce, Inspiration, Sunset, and Sunrise Points let you walk one direction and ride back
  • Pets are allowed only on the paved section between Sunset and Sunrise Points
