The Promontory
A southern-park peak seen along the Riggs Spring Loop

About
The Promontory is a peak in the southern end of Bryce Canyon National Park, near Rainbow Point and Yovimpa Point at the far end of the park's scenic drive. It's one of the landmarks visible along the Riggs Spring Loop, seen alongside formations like Molly's Nipple and No Man's Mesa as the trail winds through the white and pink cliffs of the Paunsaugunt Plateau's southern edge.
Seeing it
- Best viewed while hiking the Riggs Spring Loop, a strenuous backcountry loop below Rainbow Point
- Corral Hollow backcountry campsite sits near its base
- Part of the park's less-visited southern section, well beyond the main amphitheater viewpoints
Because this is inside Bryce Canyon National Park, standard park rules apply: no pets on trails, and a backcountry permit is required to camp overnight along the Riggs Spring or Under-the-Rim network.
