About
Swapp Canyon Trail #33085 runs between two forest roads east of Alton, mostly under oak brush cover with scattered conifer timber, and climbs at a moderately steep, steady grade for most of its length. It's one of several canyon trailheads that feed into the Grandview Trail on the plateau above, alongside Robinson, Pole Canyon, Mill Creek, and Sheep Creek, and it works well as an access route into that longer network rather than as a short standalone hike.
Good to know
- Reach it via East Fork Road, about 11 miles east on SR-12 from US-89
- Connects Forest Service Roads #1177 and #207
- Dogs are generally fine off-leash — this is national forest, not park land
- Oak brush means limited shade in places; carry water for the climb
