Spoon Trail

A quiet mile along Ipson Creek

(0)
Panguitch Lake Resort, UT

About

Spoon Trail is a short Forest Service route near Panguitch Lake Resort that drops into Ipson Creek before climbing a drainage lined with ponderosa pine, limber pine, Douglas fir, and aspen. At about a mile long, it leaves the drainage through aspen stands and open ground before ending at a jeep trail intersection on Ipson Mountain.

To reach the trailhead at 9,040 feet, head south from Panguitch on State Road 143 to Panguitch Lake, then take North Shore Road (FR 080) to Horse Valley Road (FR 076) and continue north roughly 3 miles to Ipson Crossing. This is Dixie National Forest land, so expect the usual multi-use rules — dogs off leash and dispersed camping are both common, unlike inside the national park. Snow can linger into late spring at this elevation.
