Sidney Peaks

A rim overlook and trailhead junction

About

Sidney Peaks is the name given to a small rocky outcropping and overlook area along the rim between Brian Head and Panguitch Lake, in the Dixie National Forest. You can drive up to the viewpoint parking near 10,500 feet, and it doubles as the trailhead hub for a cluster of routes — Bunker Creek, Dark Hollow, the Spruces, and Mace's Run all branch out from here, making it more of a junction than a single destination.

A 2017 fire burned heavily through this network, affecting over 90 percent of the Bunker Creek trails and parts of the Sidney Peaks area itself, so some sections still pass through recovering burn scar rather than closed-canopy forest. This is Forest Service land with permissive multi-use rules — dogs, mountain bikes, and dispersed camping are all part of the normal picture here, unlike inside the national park.
