Ruby Rim Loop Trail

A rim view of Bryce Canyon from outside the park gate

(0)
Bryce Canyon City, UT

About

Ruby Rim Loop (trail #33072) is the main route in the Gateway trail system on Dixie National Forest land at the mouth of Bryce Canyon National Park, starting behind the Bryce View Lodge parking lot. It runs past the historic Tropic Ditch out to the canyon rim, holding right on the edge of Bryce Canyon for about a third of a mile before heading back into ponderosa pine forest.

Trail character

  • Flat with a few uneven patches - a good acclimation loop if you're staying in Bryce Canyon City and need an easy first outing at elevation
  • The rim section, with its view into the canyon, is the highlight
  • Connects to the A and B loops (#33072A, #33072B) for a longer ride
  • USFS Dixie National Forest, Powell Ranger District - multi-use trail, expect equestrian traffic

Because it sits just outside the park boundary, this is one of the few places to get a rim view of Bryce Canyon on foot or bike without paying the park entrance fee.
