Day Hike

Rim Trailhead (North)

Where the Rim Trail begins, at Fairyland Point

(0)
Bryce Canyon City, UT

About

The north end of Bryce Canyon's Rim Trail starts at Fairyland Point, about a mile north of the main amphitheater viewpoints. From here, the paved and dirt Rim Trail runs 5.5 miles south along the canyon edge, linking Sunrise Point, Sunset Point, Inspiration Point, and Bryce Point along the way, with access at every viewpoint in between. Fairyland Point is also the start of the separate Fairyland Loop Trail, which drops into the canyon and includes a spur out to Tower Bridge.

Good to know

  • Reach it by driving about a mile north on Scenic Drive from the Visitor Center, then east on the short Fairyland Point access road
  • The access road closes seasonally in winter — during that closure, start at Sunrise Point instead
  • Dogs are allowed on the paved sections of the Rim Trail (Sunrise Point to Sunset Point) but not on unpaved segments or connecting trails into the canyon
  • Ice is a real hazard on shaded rim sections roughly November through April; traction devices are recommended
