Right Fork Bunker Creek Trail
Aspen and spruce between Brian Head and Panguitch Lake
(0)
About
Right Fork Bunker Creek Trail runs along the north side of Bunker Creek in the Dixie National Forest, climbing steadily through aspen stands and open side-hills between Brian Head and Panguitch Lake. Beaver activity shows up in the lower drainage, and the forest shifts to spruce and fir as the trail gains elevation. Paired with the Left Fork, the two forks connect into a loop popular with both hikers and mountain bikers.
Good to know
- A well-known mountain-bike descent starts at 11,307 feet atop Brian Head Peak and drops about 3,000 feet over 14 miles to Panguitch Lake — most riders arrange a vehicle shuttle rather than climbing back up the highway
- Forest Service land, so dogs are generally welcome and dispersed camping is common nearby
- Expect snow well into late spring at these elevations, and afternoon thunderstorms are common in July and August
