Day Hike

Queen's/Navajo Combination Loop

The park's most-recommended first hike

(0)
Bryce Canyon National Park, UT

About

The Queen's/Navajo Combination Loop is the hike NPS itself points first-time visitors toward: descend Queen's Garden from Sunrise Point, climb out via Navajo Loop to Sunset Point, then close the loop back to Sunrise along the paved Rim Trail. It's the most efficient way to see the amphitheater's two signature trails - Queen Victoria's hoodoo and Thor's Hammer - in one outing.

Good to know

  • 2.9 miles total with about 600 feet of elevation change, typically 2-3 hours
  • Rated moderate - the park's most popular combination hike for a reason
  • Parking at both Sunrise and Sunset Points; ride the free shuttle to skip the crowded lots
  • Navajo Loop's Wall Street side has had recent closures for storm damage and trail stabilization - check current NPS status, and use the Two Bridges side if needed
  • Pets are not allowed on Queen's Garden or Navajo Loop, though the connecting Rim Trail section between Sunset and Sunrise is pet-friendly
