Day Hike

Queen's Garden Trail

The gentlest way down into the amphitheater

(0)
Bryce Canyon National Park, UT

About

Queen's Garden is the gentlest way into the Bryce Amphitheater, dropping from Sunrise Point through a maze of hoodoos to a short spur trail ending at the Queen Victoria formation, a spire whose silhouette resembles the queen's statue in London. NPS lists it as the least difficult trail descending from the rim, which makes it the default recommendation for a first hike into the canyon.

Good to know

  • 1.8 miles round-trip with about 320 feet of elevation change, typically 1-2 hours
  • Rated moderate - still a real descent and climb, just gentler than Navajo or Peekaboo
  • Trailhead and parking at Sunrise Point; restrooms and water at the nearby General Store, seasonally
  • Pairs naturally with Navajo Loop for the 2.9-mile Queen's/Navajo Combination, or with Peekaboo for the full Figure-8
  • Pets are not allowed on this trail
