A long plateau connector on the Grandview Trail network.

About

Pole Canyon Trail #33007 is one of the longer connector routes in this section of Dixie National Forest, running roughly 11 miles south from the Highway 14 area near the edge of the Cedar City Ranger District down toward the Alton side of the plateau, not counting its spur trails. It's part of the same Grandview Trail network that ties together the canyon trailheads east of Alton — Robinson, Swapp, Mill Creek, Sheep Creek, and others — rather than a short out-and-back with a single scenic payoff.

Good to know

  • Multi-use forest trail — expect hikers, horses, and mountain bikes depending on the section
  • Detailed mileage and elevation for individual segments aren't posted; treat trip planning as approximate and check with the Powell or Cedar City Ranger District office for current conditions
  • Dogs are generally fine off-leash here, this being national forest rather than park land
  • High plateau elevation — snow can linger into late spring and afternoon storms build in summer
