(0)
About
The Petrified Wood Trail is an easy 2.1-mile route through Escalante Petrified Forest State Park, where an estimated five and a half million tons of petrified wood are scattered across the park's 1,400 acres. It can be combined with the adjoining Trail of the Sleeping Rainbows for hikers who want more of the park's colorful wood specimens and a bit more elevation change.
What to know
- A day-use fee applies to enter the state park
- Petrified wood is protected — leave every piece where you find it
- Dogs are welcome on leash; the park sits at Wide Hollow Reservoir just outside Escalante
