Day Hike

Peekaboo Loop

Dense hoodoos and the occasional mule train

(0)
Bryce Canyon National Park, UT

About

Peekaboo Loop drops more than 1,000 feet from Bryce Point into one of the densest concentrations of hoodoos in the park, then winds north through formations with names like the Wall of Windows. It's the trail that occasionally shares space with horse and mule rides in summer, which is why NPS recommends hiking it clockwise - you'll meet stock traffic head-on with better sightlines instead of overtaking from behind.

Good to know

  • 5.5 miles round-trip with about 1,555 feet of elevation change, typically 3-4 hours
  • Rated strenuous - steep descent and an equally steep climb back out
  • Trailhead at Bryce Point, served by the park shuttle from April through October
  • Pit toilets on the loop's west side, summer only; no water sources on trail
  • Snow can make this trail impassable well into the season given the elevation; pets are not allowed
