Navajo Lake Overlook
Where the lake loop climbs above the shoreline
(0)
About
The south side of the Navajo Lake Loop climbs above the shoreline, giving hikers an elevated look back over the lake and the lava field the trail crosses lower down — a contrast to the flatter, tree-lined north shore. It's not a separate trailhead or side trip, just the stretch of the loop itself where the tread rises and opens up, so plan on it as part of a Navajo Lake Loop hike rather than a standalone destination.
What to know
- Part of the Navajo Lake Loop's south side, not a separate maintained trail
- Elevated views over the lake and surrounding lava field
- Reached by hiking the loop from either the Te-Ah or west-end trailheads
- Dixie National Forest (USFS) land — open to hikers, bikers, and horses
- Best June through September
