Day Hike

Navajo Lake Loop Connector

The short link between the rim trail and the lake loop

(0)
Duck Creek Village, UT

About

This connector is one of several short spurs that drop hikers and bikers from the Virgin River Rim Trail down to the Navajo Lake Loop and its campgrounds, rather than a destination on its own. The best-documented of these links the Rim Trail to Spruces Campground — a steep half-mile that loses about 300 feet getting down to lake level — and similar connectors tie in from Navajo Lake and Te-Ah campgrounds. They're the practical way to combine a rim ride with a lakeside loop into one outing.

What to know

  • Short, steep spur trail linking the Virgin River Rim Trail to the Navajo Lake Loop and lakeside campgrounds
  • The Spruces Campground connector drops roughly 300 ft in about a half mile
  • Used mainly by mountain bikers building loop rides, though open to hikers as well
  • Dixie National Forest (USFS) land — multi-use, no permit required
  • Best traveled June through September
