Inspiration Point
A three-tiered overlook above the Bryce Amphitheater
About
Inspiration Point is one of the signature overlooks in Bryce Canyon National Park, sitting three-quarters of a mile south of Sunset Point along the Rim Trail and giving a bird's-eye view over the Bryce Amphitheater's hoodoos. The viewpoint has three separate levels, each offering a different angle on the formations below.
What you'll see
- Looking north along the eroded edge of the Paunsaugunt Plateau, with the dense rock walls known as the Silent City visible just south of Sunset Point
- The Claron Formation's two layers on display — the reddish, iron-rich Pink Member below and the paler White Member limestone above
- Bicycle racks, a shuttle stop, interpretive signage, restrooms, and wheelchair access at the viewpoint itself
The Rim Trail section between Bryce Point and Inspiration Point closes in winter, and rim trails generally see snow and ice from around November through April — traction devices are worth carrying in that window. Afternoon monsoon storms from July through September bring real lightning risk on this exposed rim, so plan around them.
