Houston Mountain
An off-trail 10,000-foot summit above Duck Creek
About
Houston Mountain is a roughly 10,040-foot summit in the high country between Duck Creek Village and Alton, tracked mainly by peak-bagging sites rather than mainstream hiking guides. It sits in the same general Colorado Plateau high country as Andy Nelson Peak and the Kane County High Point, but unlike those two, there's no widely published route description, trailhead, or distance figure for reaching it.
Treat this as an off-trail backcountry objective for experienced peak-baggers rather than a marked hike — expect to navigate by map and compass or GPS rather than following a signed trail. As with the rest of this high plateau country, snow closes access roughly November through April, and there's no water or facilities anywhere near the summit.
