About

Henderson Hill Trail is a 2.6-mile out-and-back near Parowan with about 797 feet of elevation gain, taking roughly 1.5 to 2 hours round trip. It's a moderately challenging climb through dense ponderosa pine forest in Dixie National Forest, opening into a grassy meadow basin below the 8,648-foot summit it's named for.

What to expect

  • A steady, quiet forest climb with real solitude — this trail sees relatively little traffic
  • The maintained tread ends at the meadow, though hikers can continue up the open hillside for a better view
  • Good for both hiking and trail running

Dogs are welcome and may be off-leash in sections, consistent with Forest Service rules on this Dixie National Forest land rather than park rules. At nearly 8,600 feet, expect cooler temperatures than the valley floor and lingering snow into late spring; summer afternoons can bring thunderstorms typical of this plateau country.
