About
Halls Creek Trail (Forest Trail #34039) is a moderate 3.7-mile route through Dixie National Forest, crossing open meadows before dropping through aspen and mixed conifer forest along Halls Creek. OHVs and e-bikes aren't permitted.
Good to know
- Reached from Escalante via Highway 12 and roughly 21 miles of forest road (FR 140 and the North Creek Lakes turnoff) to the trailhead
- From the trailhead, the route follows rock cairns and carsonite signs across open meadow before entering trees, crossing a few roads along the way — watch for blazes where the tread gets faint
- The trail steepens as it descends toward Halls Creek and ends at the junction with the Griffin Point Trail, making it easy to combine into a longer loop
This is a good connector piece for stringing together a backcountry day with the Griffin Point Trail rather than a destination on its own.
