Griffin Road Viewoint

A high-plateau overlook reached by 4x4 road, not trail

Bryce Canyon City, UT

About

This viewpoint sits along Griffin Top Road, the single-lane 4x4 route that climbs from Widtsoe (north of Bryce Canyon off Highway 22) up onto the Aquarius Plateau and across Table Cliffs Plateau in Dixie National Forest before ending near Posey Lake. The road itself is the draw here — a high-altitude drive with panoramic views that, on a clear day, reach back toward Bryce Canyon.

Good to know

  • The route runs about 32 miles one-way and takes roughly an hour to drive at its own pace — this is slow, high-clearance travel, not a paved scenic pullout
  • It's closed in winter and can stay muddy into early summer at elevation; a 4-wheel-drive vehicle is genuinely useful, not just a suggestion
  • Along the way you'll pass secluded lakes and forested plateau terrain, with the road popular for snowmobiling once snow arrives

Treat this as a viewpoint you drive to rather than hike to — the road access itself is part of the experience.
