About
Griffin Point Trail (Forest Trail #34038) runs 9.5 miles one-way through Dixie National Forest, circling the base of Griffin Point with views of it recurring over about 3 miles of the route. It's rated moderate and open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders — OHVs aren't permitted.
Good to know
- Two trailheads serve it: a north access via Forest Road 149 to the Upper Barker Reservoir parking area (16.5 miles of forest road from Highway 12), and a south access via Main Canyon Road (10.7 miles from Highway 12)
- Sections through open meadows and pine forest can be hard to follow — watch for cairns and blazes rather than a continuously obvious tread
- It connects directly to several neighboring trails, including the Great Western Trail's Barker Section, Griffin Spur, Halls Creek Trail, and White Creek Trail, making it a useful link for building a longer backcountry loop
Bring navigation backup (map, GPS, or offline trail app) for the meadow stretches where the path thins out.
