Day Hike
Figure-8 Combination
Three trails, one long loop through hoodoo country
(0)
About
The Figure-8 Combination links Queen's Garden, the Peekaboo Loop, and the Navajo Loop into the longest day hike inside the Bryce Amphitheater. NPS recommends descending Queen's Garden clockwise, connecting into Peekaboo, then climbing out via either side of Navajo Loop before finishing along the Rim Trail back to Sunrise Point. It's a full tour of the park's hoodoo country in one outing, without needing a shuttle.
Good to know
- 6.4 miles round-trip with about 320 feet of cumulative elevation change, typically 4-5 hours
- Rated strenuous - this is the longest of the amphitheater combination hikes
- Parking at Sunrise or Sunset Point; both lots fill early in summer
- Navajo Loop's Wall Street side has had recent closures for trail stabilization and storm damage - check current NPS trail status before you go, and use the Two Bridges side as the winter/backup route
- Pets are not permitted on any of these trails
