About
Farview Point earns its name honestly: at 8,822 feet along the park's main road, it's one of the longest sightlines in Bryce Canyon, taking in Navajo Mountain some 90 miles off on the Utah-Arizona line and, on clear days, the Black Mesas over 160 miles into Arizona. Closer in, the view runs across the Paria Valley and the exposed rock layers of the Grand Staircase to the Table Cliff Plateau, a 10,000-foot escarpment built from the same Claron Formation "Pink Cliffs" as Bryce's own hoodoos.
What's here
- About 10 miles from the entrance fee station along Highway 63 toward Rainbow Point
- No long hiking trail from this overlook — it's a roadside viewpoint, not a trailhead
- A short, level path leads from the parking area to neighboring Piracy Point, where an eroded butte resembles two ships in a broadside
Good stop for the distance views alone, and an easy add-on if you're already driving the park's southern stretch toward Rainbow and Yovimpa Points.
