About
The Cascade Falls Overlook is the viewing platform at the end of the Cascade Falls Trail, set along a cliff line contouring the edge of the Markagunt Plateau. From here you get the view the trail is built for: an underground outflow from Navajo Lake pouring out of a cave partway up the cliff face and dropping into the forest below, with the falls themselves only about 4 feet tall and angled so you can't see them dead-on.
What to expect
- Reached via an easy 0.6-mile walk in from the trailhead, gravel-surfaced with benches
- Open views south toward the Markagunt Plateau and, on clear days, toward Zion
- Best water flow in late spring and early summer as snowmelt feeds the underground channel
- Do not attempt to climb toward the cave opening — oxygen levels there can drop suddenly
This is Dixie National Forest land, so Forest Service rather than park rules apply — dogs are generally welcome on leash.
