Burro Canyon Trail

Burro Canyon Trail runs 3.6 miles through Dixie National Forest near Pine Lake, with views out toward Powell Point along the way. It's a moderate route open to hikers, mountain bikers, and horseback riders, ending at a junction with the Henderson Canyon Trail — the two can be linked into a roughly 12-mile loop for a longer day out.

Good to know

• OHVs and e-bikes aren't permitted on this trail
• No reliable water source along the route — bring your own and treat anything you find
• Access is via Johns Valley Road north from Tropic, then forest roads toward Pine Lake and the equestrian trailhead parking area
• Sections can be faint in spots; watch for cairns and blazes, and be ready for fast-changing mountain weather at any time of year
