About

Blue Spring Mountain is a summit around 9,875 feet in Iron County, on the Panguitch Lake USGS quadrangle within Dixie National Forest. It's a backcountry high point on the Markagunt Plateau rather than a marked hiking destination — no maintained trail is documented to its top, and it shows up mostly as a landmark named on maps and visible from the Birch Springs Loop OHV route nearby.

The mountain sits in the same forested, volcanic-plateau country as Haycock Mountain and Blue Spring Creek, which feeds Panguitch Lake below. Its practical use is as scenery and orientation for hunters, off-road riders, and cross-country travelers moving through the area rather than as a hiker's summit with an established route. Forest Service rules apply throughout — dispersed camping and dogs are generally fine, with no permits required outside standard OHV registration for motorized routes nearby.
