Birch Spring Knoll
A backcountry knoll on the Cameron Wash OHV loop
About
Birch Spring Knoll is a forested hill in Dixie National Forest on the Markagunt Plateau, known mainly through the OHV network that wraps around it rather than any maintained footpath. The Birch Springs Knoll spur breaks off the longer Birch Springs Loop in Cameron Wash and curls around the knoll's south side before rejoining the main route east of Miller Knoll.
There's no dedicated hiking trail up Birch Spring Knoll itself — it's a backcountry landmark that off-road riders pass rather than a hikers' summit, set among the red-rock cliffs and pinyon-juniper country typical of this stretch of forest. Visible from the same loop are Haycock Mountain, Hatch Mountain, and Blue Spring Mountain, giving the area more value as scenery along a longer ATV route than as a standalone stop. Access is Forest Service land, generally open to dispersed camping and dogs, with the usual OHV permit and education-course requirements for riders.
