About
Yellow Lake is a small stocked fishing lake in the North Creek Lakes area of the Dixie National Forest, one of a cluster reached via the Barker Lakes Loop northwest of Escalante. The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources keeps it stocked with brook trout, and it sees mostly anglers working the loop alongside neighboring Flat Lake, Blue Lake, Joe Lay Reservoir, and the Barker reservoirs.
Good to know
- Access via Forest Road 149 from the Barker Recreation Area
- Utah fishing license required; no fee to access the area
- Open unless snow makes the road impassable, generally late spring through fall
- Check current conditions with the Escalante Ranger District before heading out
As Forest Service land rather than park land, expect more relaxed rules than inside Bryce Canyon National Park — dogs are generally fine and dispersed camping is common nearby.
