East Zion Adventures

Slot canyon UTV tours and horseback rides on the wild east side of Zion.

About

East Zion Adventures runs guided UTV tours into slot canyons and horseback rides through the high desert terrain on Zion's quieter east side. It's a different angle on Zion than most visitors ever see. The crowds thin out here, the red rock gets more dramatic, and the guides actually know what they're talking about.

The slot canyon tours are the standout. You ride out in a UTV, which is half the fun, then explore narrow canyon corridors carved into the sandstone. Guides like Lonnie and Mark bring real knowledge of local geology and natural history, so you're learning while you're gaping. The cafe on-site is a good start to the morning, solid coffee and food before you head out.

The horseback rides cover open country with sweeping views. Trev and Jacob have been called out specifically by riders for handling mixed groups well, keeping beginners comfortable while not boring the experienced riders. The White Mountain ride gets particular praise.

East Zion Adventures sits in Orderville, about 45 minutes east of Zion National Park's main entrance and roughly an hour from Bryce Canyon National Park. It's a natural stop on any southern Utah road trip connecting the two parks along Highway 89. If you're staying at Ponderosa Resort or passing through the area, this is the kind of half-day activity that ends up being a trip highlight.

Did a tour of Slot Canyon today with Nick our guide. Fantastic. So much fun. A great little tour into the narrow canyon. Beautiful sights and our guide was extremely helpful and fun and easy going. This is a great little tour if you just want to see the canyon and only a couple hours. Well worth it. Nearly anyone could do this hike but there are some spots that require good foot work and upper body strength. But our guide was there coaching and helping us all the way. Very supportive. Loved it.

Very disappointing experience. I genuinely tried to support this company by booking directly through them instead of using third-party advertising sites so they could make the full commission. Unfortunately, the communication and professionalism were extremely poor. My first call was interrupted because the representative’s baby was crying in the background and the booking could not be completed. Another employee also seemed unable to help. The next day, a lady finally explained the options and gave me available times. I called back again to confirm, and the gentleman told me he would call me back after checking with the tour guide — but never did. I had to follow up myself, only to be told they suddenly could not do the tour because they “didn’t have a tour guide.” What made the situation even worse was the attitude. Instead of apologizing or trying to help, I was basically told there are “many companies” booking through them, which made me feel like my business did not matter at all. What bothered me most was the lack of accountability and communication. Nobody updated me, nobody followed through, and I was made to feel like the inconvenience was somehow my fault. Very unprofessional and disappointing customer service. Everything happens for a reason . Glad I didn't book it thru them

We had the best tour with Don!! He gave us tons of information, took amazing photos, and even brought his drone and gave us some incredible videos. 100% recommended! Plus, he speaks perfect Spanish. We're so happy with the tour. We had the places all to ourselves.
