Sugar Knoll Chicken

Crispy, juicy, spiced-just-right chicken worth pulling off the highway for.

About

Orderville sits right on US-9, the road most people take between Zion and the rest of southern Utah. Sugar Knoll Chicken is exactly the kind of place you'd drive past, do a double-take, and be really glad you stopped. It's a chicken spot, done right, with a menu built around tenders, wings, loaded fries, and cheesy bread that people genuinely can't stop talking about.

The wings are meaty and cooked through, with a spice blend that tastes like someone actually developed it rather than grabbed a shaker off a shelf. The tenders hit the same note. Order the loaded fries if you're hungry (sub onion rings if you're feeling decisive). The cheesy bread has its own fan club at this point.

Worth knowing: the kitchen takes gluten sensitivity seriously. The grilled chicken goes on a separate grill area, and the fries come out of a dedicated fryer. Staff will check sauce ingredients on request. That's the kind of attention to detail that doesn't happen by accident.

Service is fast and friendly, portions are generous, and the prices are fair for food that's made to order. It's not a sit-down-and-linger kind of place, but it's a genuinely good meal on a road trip through Zion National Park country. Panguitch and Bryce Canyon are about an hour north if you're doing the full southern Utah loop. This is a solid stop either direction.

A little pricey (like everything else around Zion), but the food was worth it. Better than Chik-fil-A for sure! Our food was fresh but made pretty quickly. The staff were friendly too.

Food was immaculate. My family and I ordered multiple dishes, and each were amazing. Service was excellent and each employee was real kind. One of the employees being Shane. The guy and even shared some local scenic points for us to check out. Thanks again Shane, and thank you Sugar Knoll.

We were recommended to stop by here by Mikey from Expedition Kanab and we are so glad that we made the time. The staff was super friendly and helpful. We all got the Loaded Fries and they were delicious. The portion sizes were awesome, everything was fresh, the fries were crispy, coleslaw was crunchy, pickles were tasty, and the chicken was juicy. The combination was sooo good. Topped with their sauce and it was the perfect lunch.
