Pinewoods Resort & Grille

A woodsy mountain grille where the ribeye, pizza, and clam chowder all hit the spot after a day outdoors.

About

Duck Creek Village sits at about 8,500 feet in the Dixie National Forest, and Pinewoods Resort & Grille is one of the main gathering spots up here. It's a restaurant, bar, RV park, and lodging property rolled into one, with a laid-back mountain vibe that fits the setting perfectly. The surrounding pines do most of the decorating.

The grille is worth stopping for on its own. The menu covers more ground than you'd expect from a mountain spot: ribeye, clam chowder, chicken alfredo, a clam and shrimp basket, and wood-fired pizza. The fireplace inside keeps things warm and relaxed, and the staff has a reputation for making people feel genuinely welcome. There's also a small gift shop and a full bar if you want to linger.

Lodging here runs from standard rooms to RV hookups. It's a mountain retreat in the truest sense, more about the forest setting and clean, comfortable rooms than resort-style amenities. Guests appreciate the pool and hot tub after a day on the trails.

Duck Creek Village is about 30 minutes from Cedar City and makes a solid base for exploring Cedar Breaks National Monument and the surrounding national forest. It's also a reasonable drive toward Bryce Canyon National Park if you're building out a southern Utah road trip. If you're passing through on Scenic Byway 14, Pinewoods is worth a lunch stop even if you're not staying the night.

Excellent place to enjoy Duck Creek village. You are close to all the things the village offers.

The property doesn't have air conditioning. It was hot and uncomfortable. We did not sleep in the bedroom. We slept on the couch and opened all the windows.

The location was amazing. The resort was very underwhelming. Simple things would make it so much more enjoyable. Better service. Fire alarms that were actually connected. Wifi that actually worked. No one was there, even though it was a weekend. With how they run the place, I can see why. It's unfortunate because if they actually cared, it could be an amazing place to stay.
