Esca-latte Restaurant

Esca-latte is the cafe and restaurant inside Escalante Outfitters, a combined outdoor gear shop and eatery at 310 W Main Street in Escalante, Utah. It sits at a natural crossroads: travelers heading along Scenic Byway 12 between Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef often stop here, and it's one of the few places in town that serves food from early morning through evening. Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument trailheads are minutes away.

The kitchen leans on fresh, made-from-scratch preparation. Hand-tossed pizza is the centerpiece, built with locally sourced ingredients including Utah sausage, goat cheeses, and sun-dried tomatoes. Breakfast runs to specialty pastries, quiche, and baked oatmeal. The salad menu covers classics like Caesar, BLT with applewood smoked bacon, smoked trout, and a tomato-mozzarella plate. Desserts are made in-house daily, and the espresso bar uses organic fair-trade beans from Caffe Ibis, a Utah roaster.

The space doubles as an outfitter, so you can pick up maps, gear, and local trail beta while you eat — useful if you're planning a day hike into the Escalante canyons. The cafe has a casual, hiker-friendly vibe; it draws a mix of locals and through-travelers. Open daily 8:00 AM – 9:00 PM, which covers both an early pre-hike breakfast and a post-canyon dinner. Escalante is about 45 miles east of Bryce Canyon along Highway 12 — plan 55 minutes to an hour of driving on that winding byway.
